Thanks to Claire for providing and Dave Ward for further details

  • When he was an apprentice he nearly chopped the top of his finger off when it became trapped between two scaffold boards. Appently the first aider fainted when the blood spurted after removing the temporary bandage so he was taken to Haslar Hospital. However he kept moaning because he was due to catch the supporters train to Oxford for Portsmouth’s evening game v Oxford such was his dedication to Pompey

  • Him & a colleague (Gary King) were painting a ships side at Victory Jetty (where the carriers are now berthed) on a paint cat; the paint cat broke loose therefore they were then floating in Portsmouth Harbour. The Police launch eventually caught up with them by No.4 Boathouse where HMS Warrior is now berthed
